Sugar Land Skeeters mascot Swatson stopped by Riverstone recently to invite young residents to take a swing at summer reading.
Kids were challenged to read as many books this summer as they could and also enjoyed storytime, a coloring activity and selfies with the big Skeeter himself. A selection of books, bookmarks and crayons were provided by the Sugar Land Skeeters.
The purpose of the Skeeters Reading Program is to help boost extracurricular reading while also teaching kids valuable life lessons.
Swatson even offered a sweet incentive. Participants who read four books over the summer will earn two free field box tickets to a 2019 Sugar Land Skeeters game! The team will provide snacks and beverages.
The Skeeters Summer Reading Program isn’t just for young Riverstone scholars, it is open to children from pre-K through high school. In order to participate, students must complete an online bookmark, have a parent or guardian sign off on it and then bring it to the stadium to receive their two tickets.
