It doesn’t matter which Riverstone neighborhood you live in, your kids are going to attend terrific schools.
Children at Risk — which rates schools based on test scores, student achievement, campus performance and other criteria — recently released its annual tally of the best schools across the state and Fort Bend schools serving Riverstone are once again among the top — even the very top.
Fort Settlement Middle School — always a high-performer — is ranked No. 1 among Houston’s 317 middle school campuses and No. 3 in the state — that’s out of 1,995 schools. Commonwealth Elementary also is used to being in the single digits when it comes to rankings, and this year lands at No. 2 among the 878 elementaries in the Houston area and No. 8 out of the 4,428 elementary schools in Texas. Not surprisingly, both received an A+ on the Children at Risk report card.
Other Riverstone schools earning an A+ include Austin Parkway Elementary (No. 73 in Houston and No. 230 in Texas), Settlers Way Elementary (No. 89 in Houston and No. 304 in the state) and First Colony Middle School (No. 35 in Houston and No. 138 in Texas).
Just missing that A+ score — but still with an impressive rank — is Elkins High School, which earned an A and is ranked No. 38 out of Houston’s 187 high school campuses and No. 130 out of the 1,371 high schools in Texas.
Children at Risk didn’t forget about our on-site Sullivan Elementary. They just don’t include new schools in the rankings. We’re expecting another A+ next year!
