Ice cream socials and a swanky crawfish boil are just some of the events Riverstone — Texas’ top-selling master-planned community — has planned for visitors during Houston’s Largest Home Tour beginning April 1.
The month-long event, sponsored by Riverstone developer Johnson Development Corp., opens the doors to hundreds of homes- including 120 models- throughout 11 of its well-appointed communities. Visitors will be able to tour the homes, pick up decorating ideals and experience resident-only events planned by the communities’ dedicated lifestyle directors. All events are free and open to the public.
Twenty models will be open for touring in Riverstone from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. The community offers a range of home choices from patio homes and townhouses to executive homes and designs by custom builders.
Beginning April 1, visitors to Riverstone’s Information Center, 4855 Riverstone Boulevard, can pick up a map of the model homes and free ice cream treats during a month-long ice cream social. Also on April 1, the community will host a showing of “A Bug’s Life” on a giant 25-foot screen at The Club at Riverstone Event Lawn, 18353 University Boulevard. The movie begins at 8 p.m. with blankets and picnic baskets encouraged.
The Club at Riverstone also will be the setting for Houston's Swankiest Crawfish Boil from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23. The free event will serve up Creole-inspired crawfish with gourmet accompaniments. An assortment of wines and craft beers will be available for purchase from No Label Brewery, St. Arnold Brewery and Karbach Brewery. Live music will be provided by “Cajun Commotion” band Bayou Roux and there will be plenty of family-friendly activities.
An opportunity to kayak on Lake Riverstone on April 30 rounds out the events. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., family and friends can paddle on the lake, test a large variety of kayaks provided by Tackle Unlimited and discuss their merits with brand representatives. Registration is not required, but children will need to attend with parents. All participants must complete waivers.
Riverstone, a 3,700-acre project in Fort Bend County just minutes from U.S. 59 and the Fort Bend Parkway, is Johnson Development’s top-selling community. Other master-planned communities featured in the home tour are Veranda, Imperial, Harvest Green and Sienna Plantation in Fort Bend County; Jordan Ranch, Cross Creek Ranch and Willow Creek Farms in Fulshear/Katy; Tuscan Lakes and Edgewater in the Bay Area; Fall Creek in northeast Houston; and Harmony, Woodforest and Grand Central Park in South Montgomery County.
