Anne McCormick Sullivan Elementary, Riverstone’s first on-site school, is going to the dogs — or rather the Dalmatians — as a result of voting by students from four area campuses.
The students voted recently naming both the school mascot and the school colors. As a result, students of the new school will be known as the Anne Sullivan Dalmatians and celebrate spirit days with the school’s new colors — red, black, and silver.
Slated to open in August, the 150,576-square-foot campus is designed for 1,200 students. It is Fort Bend ISD’s 47th elementary school and the first major project of the 2014 bond program.
The district broke ground on the school last July. It is being built to the exacting standards of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) program, which recognizes best-in-class green building strategies and practices.
