Another real estate think tank has named Riverstone No. 1 in Texas and No. 4 in the nation, this time based on the number of homes builders have started in the community during the past 12 months.
Metrostudy showed Riverstone with 818 housing starts, a 29.2 percent increase from the previous 12 months, in its recently released report of the nation’s top-producing master-planned communities. The development was ranked No. 8 in Metrostudy’s 2013 report.
“We have seen a steady surge of construction activity in Riverstone, with several new neighborhoods opening and some of our most popular neighborhoods expanding this year,” said Trey Reichert, vice president and general manager of Riverstone. “And the momentum is expected to continue as builders show no signs of slowing down.”
Riverstone is one of three projects of The Johnson Development Corp. on the Metrostudy list. Cross Creek Ranch and Woodforest were ranked No. 13 and No. 14, respectively, in the nation, with nearly 500 housing starts each. In all, there were eight Texas developments among the nation’s top 20 communities, seven from the Houston area.
Earlier this summer, Riverstone was also named No. 1 in Texas and No. 4 in the nation in a mid-year 2014 report by Robert Charles Lesser & Co. (RCLCO), a real estate advisory group. The RCLCO report was based on sales during the first half of 2014.
Nineteen builders offer homes priced from the $300,000s to the millions in Riverstone. Residents enjoy an array of amenities, including The Club at Riverstone, a 17-acre recreation complex that opened this summer with swimming, tennis and an 8,000-square-foot clubhouse. New homes in Riverstone, located along Highway 6 near U.S. 59 and the Fort Bend Parkway, boast a Sugar Land address.
