Runners can lace up their shoes while helping children in need do the same when the Riverstone Wicked Fun Run returns, 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.
Timed competitive and non-competitive waves, as well as a 1k kid's run, begin at The Club at Riverstone, 18353 University Boulevard. The fee is $35 for competitive racers, $25 for non-competitive racers and $15 for the kids' run.
Participants can choose to donate new kids' tennis shoes of equal value to St. Laurence in lieu of race fees. When registering, be sure to select shoe donation and continue with your registration. Shoes can be dropped off at The Club at Riverstone (18353 University Blvd. Sugar Land, TX 77479) Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.
T-shirts, water, fruit and healthy snacks will be provided. The post-race awards party includes a photo booth, DJ, bounce houses, face painters and more. All proceeds benefit St. Laurence, a charity providing shoes to children in need.
Prizes will be awarded to those who place 1st, 2nd & 3rd for men and women separately.
St. Laurence gives away more than 800 pairs of shoes to kids in need. With your assistance and generosity they will be able to distribute shoes to the following agencies : Fort Bend Family Promise, Nery's Promise, Mamie George Community Center -Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program, Catholic Charities Military families, Fort Bend Rainbow Room, Holy Family Catholic Church, Hick's Elementary, Bethel, Child Advocates, Our Lady of Guadalupe
