Clements High School

Clements High School has a strong history of academic excellence, with scores on state-mandated TAKS tests and college admissions exams far surpassing district, state and national counterparts.

High college admission testing scores on both the SAT and ACT should benefit the more than 95 percent of the 2007 graduating class who plan to continue their studies by attending college. Clements High School’s 2007 seniors averaged 1159 on the SAT — more than 150 points higher than the state average and topping the district’s average score by more than 100 points. Results were similar on the ACT admissions test, with Clements seniors scoring an average of 25.4 compared with 20.2 in Texas and 21.1 district-wide.

Impressive scores should continue, with 37 students from Clements High School named 2009 National Merit Semifinalists, more than seven times the number of any other Fort Bend high school. Clements also has the largest chapter of the National Honor Society per student population of any public high school in the nation.

Younger students at Clements also posted impressive test scores, particularly on the 2009 TAKS test:

  • Reading – 99% passing
  • Social studies – 99% passing
  • Math – 96% passing
  • Science – 96% passing

These high scores – combined with graduation rates and other criteria – earned Clements the No. 5 spot in a ranking of 131 public high schools in the Houston area by Children at Risk, a local research and advocacy group. Clements, rated Recognized by the Texas Education Agency, was the top Fort Bend school on the list..

Clements High School is about more than academics, however, offering a diverse extracurricular program. A full field of sports is available, including football, basketball, tennis, track, soccer, golf, swimming, volleyball, baseball, softball and diving. Beyond athletics, Clements students can develop their talents in choir, band, drill team, student government, Academic Decathlon, Destination Imagination and a wealth of other academic and service clubs.

Just some of the extra-curricular accomplishments by Clements High School students include:

  • Boys’ soccer team is the bi-district area champion for the sixth consecutive year, finishing its season as regional quarterfinalist. It is the team's 16th consecutive year to advance to the playoffs.
  • Girls’ soccer team is the bi-district area champion, finishing as a regional quarterfinalist. Playes earned all eight all-district awards.
  • The baseball team advanced to the state playoffs for the fifth consecutive year and the 10th time in the last 14 years.
